The Name Engraved in Your Heart
Synopsis
The film Your Name Engraved Herein takes place at a time when martial law in
Taiwan was lifted, in 1987. Just like a country that just got out of martial
law, the freshness of freedom is starting to be felt even though the
remnants of restraints are still everywhere.
This film tells the story of a friendship that then leads to deeper things
between Chang Jia-han called A-Han (Edward Chen) and Wang Birdy (Jing-Hua
Tseng) who both attend a boarding school with strict regulations.
Like other Asian countries or yes indeed at that time homosexuality was not
widely accepted, this film also depicts the Taiwanese people who are still
unfamiliar with these values. This is illustrated by the bullying that
occurred at A-han and Birdy's school, as well as the arrest of a gay rights
activist who is described in a special way in this film.
